I was just reading a post over at The Realm of Dungeons & Dragons about music and lighting during a game and I had to post about two groups of musicians that will add atmosphere to any game (or Halloween party)
I've been using music from Midnight Syndicate and Nox Arcana for a while now and I can always find something appropriate for a game situation. I would HIGHLY recommend you checking out their music.
Had not heard of Nox Arcana, I have all of Midnight Syndicate's CDs. Good background music, I use movie soundtracks too. At one point I had burned a CD with various sound bites from Warcraft II, Gauntlet, and Army of Darkness thrown in for fun.
ReplyDeleteI'll check them out. When the DM ran Death Frost Doom he played Lustmord (plus others) on Last FM. Each song's about 10 mins at least. It's not too in your face to be a distraction but is darkly atmospheric. There were some creepy coincidences like when we walked through the children's crypts a high pitched wordless tune started up.
ReplyDeleteHAHA that's awesome, my last D&D campaign's second half was pretty much soundtracked ENTIRELY by Midnight Syndicate AND Nox Arcana, on a player recommendation.
ReplyDeleteI also stocked my little gaming shop with an interesting product...one of the Dungeon Crawl Classic modules for 3.5 came with a soundtrack by Midnight Syndicate. Hoping someone buys it and tells me how it is...I mostly run 4E these days, but I'm tempted to bust out Pathfinder just for that module :P
