Wizards and Warriors was a short-lived (blink and you missed it) television series that premiered, aired and died all in 1983. It stared Jeff Conaway, of Taxi fame, as the good Prince Erik Greystone in sort of a D&D-esque show obviously attempting to capitalize on the Dungeons & Dragons craze of the early 80's. Unfortunately it wasn't very good or very funny and died quicker than a zombie at a cleric convention.
From what I remember it was not half bad, though certainly not great, but a valiant attempt at a humorous fantasy. And the idea of a wizard's power being tied to a single focus that could be taken from them had a lot of potential.

ReplyDeleteOh, man. I LOVED Wizards & Warriors. Really. Not only that, this is the first time I can recall being EXTREMELY pissed at a television network for yanking me around. The goddamn freaking Olympics pre-empted the thing so many times no one was able to watch it/follow it and it got cancelled for "low viewership." If they ever put the few broadcast episodes out as a DVD set, you better believe I'll buy it.

OMG! I loved that series! I was devastated when it was cancelled! My best friend and I would plan all week who's house we would watch it at, and spend all the rest of our time goin' on about the last episode. And how exactly did the network think they were going to get viewers, when they kept jacking the schedule around like that?!?
