Forgive My Ignorance

I'm still sorta new to the game blogging community and I wasn't really checking updates this weekend, but when I signed on this morning, there seems to have been some sort of shake up in the neighborhood. Can someone fill me in on what's happening?

All I can tell is that Zak S over at Playing D&D With Porn Stars is posting some videos of his game sessions with his friends (who happen to be porn stars) and now Chgowiz from Chgowiz's Old Guy RPG Blog has shut his blog down (which I really enjoyed reading) and has withdrawn from TARGA.

I"m having a hard time figuring out the connection between the two incidences. Is there anyone out there that can explain what happened and why Chgowiz is so upset that he would shut his blog down?
I watched the video in question, I didn't see anything particularly offensive. There was no porn or anything in it, they just happen to be porn stars for a living and play D&D for fun as far as I could tell.

  1. I'm sure if you wait long enough some Anonymous poster will sort you on their take of why what happened, happened.

  2. An Anonymous poster left this link in my comments section (of my post on this very topic):

The vocal minority that can't get along (or at least have their tantrums in silence) have struck again - and this time we've all lost a great member of our "community" because of it. Heads should roll...

  3. I like Chgowiz a lot. It's easy for all us (myself included) to hurt other people's feelings on the intertubes. Some things were written, that those who wrote them now wish had not been written. As they say, talk is cheap, but the internet is forever.

I hope Chgowiz is back soon.

Speaking of community, I think this is part of the problem ... everybody has their own idea what 'the community' is, and some question if even exists.

  4. Creative differences, I suppose. :D

It seems that some people object strongly to porn stars playing D&D being associated with TARGA in any way shape or form. This has caused a certain number of hard words to pass between a few different people, with the result that one member of the TARGA committee has left and Michael Shorten has withdrawn from the public eye. I doubt very much that this incident was more than the straw that broke the camel's back.

  5. I'm in the same position as you, not really sure why there was so much fuss to the extent that Chgowiz shut up shop. I'll watch this space until all becomes clear.
