Flashback Thursday - The Sword and the Sorcerer

Here's a little gem that I'm sure most of you would like expunged from your memories.

The Sword and the Sorcerer from 1982 staring Lee Horsley (aka. Matt Houston) and Richard Lynch (aka. that guy that everyone recognizes but no one knows his name).

Some of you might even recognize the Sorcerer as Richard Moll from Nightcourt fame, but I'm guessing all of you recognize that damn three-bladed sword that had a magical air compressor built into the pommel and would shoot two of the blades at enemies.

Damn you Conan the Barbarian for spawning these God-awful fantasy movies that forced me to waste my youth watching each and every one!

  1. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I still remember one of the players back then asking for a sword like that. After suffering a verbal backlash of avalanche proportions from the other players, he decided that bows or throwing weapons fulfilled that role easily enough. Isn’t that the movie where the hero is crucified, frees himself and then attacks with the nails in his hands?

  2. Yes, Padre, that is that fine piece of ... cinema. ;)

  3. The effect of the cask of souls (is that right? It has been ages) at the beginning of the movie I remember as being very striking and horrific. The rest of the movies was not good but amusing at times.

  6. I remember Krull being in that same time period and all of us mocking the movie for calling his super throwing star a glaive. As cheesy as these movies were, we went to them all just to see some sword fights and action from a fantasy setting.
